Humanitarian Projects
The Alive and Healthy Institute partners with the Himalayan Institute on global humanitarian projects. The projects focus on sustainable and holistic solutions for rural empowerment in India, Africa and Mexico. Providing a collaboration with the local communities at the village level to:
- Improve livelihood and healthcare
- Address their unique needs through micro-enterprise business models
- Create new jobs that lead toward financial sustainability
- Develop community tailored holistic integrative wellness programs fostered through education and production of health products that are uniquely helpful for local health concerns.
Alive and Healthy will be sponsoring a Battle of the Bands in June for high school band groups as a fund raiser for Trees for Tibet.
Our energy farming projects promote sustainable organic farming and land management with production of medicinal crops and cash crops for local use. We also support large scale tree planting like the Trees for Tibet project that helps counter the effect of global warming and develops a renewal of water table through soil & water conservation.
The world is becoming rapidly urbanized with youth fleeing the community support of village life in hope finding jobs and financial independence in the big cities. They are often disappointed at best or more likely victimized often being forced into the sex or drug industry to survive. The solution to this looming global phenomenon is found in uplifting the rural communities with jobs, education and health-care.
Education and environmental sustainability are the cornerstones to the our rural empowerment projects. Education is aided in the form of vocational training and educational scholarships. Alive and Healthy Institute sponsors local youth to participate in eco-service excursions where they can fully participate in the rural empowerment projects as well as experience far-reaching opportunities for personal growth and transformation. Everyone benefits. As Mark Twain wrote “Travel is fatal to prejudice”.
